McGregor & Mayweather agree to terms?

Let me go ahead and start with this:  I don’t believe this report.

The Sun is a tabloid in England.  I don’t think there’s been a lot of legitimate news that they’ve actually broken.  In fact, if you take a look at the-sun-lies.blogspot.com you’ll see the kinds of stories they’ve broken that have, actually, not even been close to the truth.

But let’s just say for a bit that this thing is real.

They have been all over the fight, much more than anyone else.  Here’s today’s story:  www.thesun.co.uk/sport/2859227/conor-mcgregor-and-floyd-mayweather-finally-reach-agreement-for-billion-dollar-las-vegas-mega-bout

You can see several of them here:

This fight would be worth at least $1B.  Yes, that’s a “B.”  As in Billions.  The real news will be how much Floyd is taking, how much McGregor will make… and, honestly, how much UFC is going to take from this, because you know they’re not going to let McGregor jump into this without getting a piece of the pie.

The thing that’s interesting to me is the fact that not one single person is giving McGregor a chance in this fight.  Not one person that I’ve seen has said he could possibly win.

Here are 3 reasons why I think McGregor has a shot at beating Mayweather:

  1. Both men are the same height and same weight… but McGregor’s reach is 74″ while Mayweather’s is 72″.  I think De La Hoya was the last person that Mayweather didn’t have a reach advantage on.  For example, Manny Pacquiao‘s reach is 67″.
  2. Mayweather’s last fight was Sept 12, 2015.  McGregor just fought in December.  Not to mention the fact that Mayweather is 11 years older than McGregor (39 to 28).
  3. The last 7 bouts of Mayweather’s career have gone the full 12 rounds with no knockouts.  McGregor will come at him much more aggressively, with much harder punches – moving up to 170 to fight Diaz could actually help McGregor in a fight like this.

For now, we still don’t know exactly what’s happening with this fight, but the circumstances surrounding it are definitely interesting.

Gary began his first website in 1998 as a sophomore in high school, writing reviews of cds and live shows in the Memphis area. He became editor of his college newspaper, then moved towards a career in music. He started the infamous MemphisTider.com blog during the 2006 football season, and was lucky enough to get into blogging just before the coaching search that landed Nick Saban at Alabama. The month and a half long coaching search netted his site, which was known for tracking airplanes, over 1 million hits in less than 90 days. The website introduced Gary to tons of new friends, including Nico and Todd, who had just started the site RollBamaRoll.com.After diving into more than just Alabama news, Gary started up his first installment of WinningCuresEverything.com in 2012. After keeping the site quiet for a while, it was started back up in April 2016. Gary then joined forces with high school friend Chris Giannini and began a podcast during the 2016 football season that runs at least 2 times a week, focusing on college football, NFL football, and sports wagering, and diving into other sports and pop-culture topics.E-mail: gary@winningcureseverything.com Twitter: @GaryWCE
