Podcast 112: Fri, Aug 18th, 2017 / Chris Fallica interview, Ole Miss phone records, etc

Podcast 112 with ESPN’s Chris Fallica, Ole Miss phone records, McGregor / Mayweather, etc

Friday is finally here, and Gary and Chris kick things off by talking about the NFL Super Bowl odds (3:01), and which teams have had the most money bet on them at the WestGate in Las Vegas, along with the top teams’ odds (from VegasInsider.com) to actually win the Super Bowl.

The two then change subjects and jump into the reason why Floyd Mayweather would ok changing boxing gloves (7:58), for both himself and McGregor, from 8oz to 10oz, and Chris discusses whether or not Floyd can knock out McGregor.

Chris Fallica (13:35), from ESPN’s College Gameday and the Behind the Bets podcast, joins the program to help preview the 2017 College Football season, and help us look at some early game lines heading into next week, before laying out places he loves traveling to for Gameday, and what some of his worst spread beats have been.

Gary brings up the Wall St Journal article regarding Hugh Freeze’s escort calls during recruiting trips (47:40), and Gary brings up that Freeze’s phone records were released by Ole Miss to the public… but that the school had allowed Freeze to redact about 5% of the numbers. There are 3 questions to ask about that.

Finally, the guys reach the Friday Five (54:33), jumping into Dedric Lawson and Joe Jackson getting into some trouble in Memphis, a male stripper involved in the craziest attempted murder maybe ever, ESPN apologizes for a fantasy draft auction, and Barstool Sports is printing Clown Goodell towels.

Gary Segars

Gary began his first website in 1998 as a sophomore in high school, writing reviews of cds and live shows in the Memphis area. He became editor of his college newspaper, then moved towards a career in music. He started the infamous MemphisTider.com blog during the 2006 football season, and was lucky enough to get into blogging just before the coaching search that landed Nick Saban at Alabama. The month and a half long coaching search netted his site, which was known for tracking airplanes, over 1 million hits in less than 90 days. The website introduced Gary to tons of new friends, including Nico and Todd, who had just started the site RollBamaRoll.com.After diving into more than just Alabama news, Gary started up his first installment of WinningCuresEverything.com in 2012. After keeping the site quiet for a while, it was started back up in April 2016. Gary then joined forces with high school friend Chris Giannini and began a podcast during the 2016 football season that runs at least 2 times a week, focusing on college football, NFL football, and sports wagering, and diving into other sports and pop-culture topics.E-mail: gary@winningcureseverything.com Twitter: @GaryWCE
