The Tuesday Rewind (a day late): Nov 29, 2016

Rivalry week didn’t really do us any big favors, but we continue winning.  I’ve now gone 8-0 the last 2 weeks on my NFL picks, both in the biggest games and in my gambling picks, so that’s definitely something.

Chris continues rolling in college football, hitting a winning week again, while I fell to 2-3 this go ’round.  On the year, in all picks combined, I’m sitting at 95-82-8 while Chris is at 83-95-7.  Still plenty of time over the NFL season and college bowl games to get back to even.

We waited until today to post because Chris had the Eagles -4 last night against the Packers, and we needed to see the results of that before we could give out our numbers.  Here’s what we’re looking at:

7-on-7 Head-to-Head

In head to head on the biggest games of the weekend, I pulled a little further ahead by getting the Utah cover against Colorado.  We pushed on the Alabama / Auburn game, and we picked every other game the exact same.  Chris is now 19 games below .500, and it may be too far gone for him to come out of this hole… but he’s still got a shot – he just needs some really good weeks.

College Football gambling picks

Chris was able to lock up a winning week with Miss St’s win at Ole Miss on Saturday, and was hoping for a 4-1 week, until South Carolina got absolutely demolished.  I felt pretty confident on my 2 Friday games, but Arkansas couldn’t score in the 2nd half against Missouri (still haven’t figured that one out) and Tulsa started giving away turnovers, which turned into a TON of Cincinnati points (the 2nd most points they’ve scored all season – they had scored 26 total points in the 4 games prior).  Tulsa scored 40 and won in overtime.

NFL gambling picks

In my NFL gambling picks, I’ve now won 4 straight games to go from 8-13-2 to 12-13-2, and I’ve got a chance to break .500 for the first time all season ( I started out Week 1 at 1-3-1) next week.  Chris dropped both of his games (the Vikings in back-breaking fashion), which now puts him at 3-4 over his past 7 NFL picks.

SEC Fantasy picks

I fought my way back to tie things up with Chris… winning 3 of the last 4 weeks for us to have our “Game 7” moment… and then let it get away from me in the last game.  Bo Scarborough didn’t score a touchdown, but rushed for 90 yards.  The difference maker was Alabama’s defense and special teams – while they gave up 12 points, Bama’s kicker hit 3 fg and 3 xp, which was 12 points right there.  Only 1 interception, no scores, and only 1 sack, so the score would have been fine, except for the kicker.  Arkansas’s kicker missed a field goal, and Arkansas could not score in the 2nd half – and they got only 1 turnover, and no scores from that.  I’m still shocked about that.  I figured Arkansas would have been able to slow down Mizzou, and that they would have thrown at least one touchdown to Keon Hatcher, which would have gotten me the win.  But, alas, it was not to be.  Congrats to Chris – the 2016 SEC Fantasy Champion!

Gary began his first website in 1998 as a sophomore in high school, writing reviews of cds and live shows in the Memphis area. He became editor of his college newspaper, then moved towards a career in music. He started the infamous MemphisTider.com blog during the 2006 football season, and was lucky enough to get into blogging just before the coaching search that landed Nick Saban at Alabama. The month and a half long coaching search netted his site, which was known for tracking airplanes, over 1 million hits in less than 90 days. The website introduced Gary to tons of new friends, including Nico and Todd, who had just started the site RollBamaRoll.com.After diving into more than just Alabama news, Gary started up his first installment of WinningCuresEverything.com in 2012. After keeping the site quiet for a while, it was started back up in April 2016. Gary then joined forces with high school friend Chris Giannini and began a podcast during the 2016 football season that runs at least 2 times a week, focusing on college football, NFL football, and sports wagering, and diving into other sports and pop-culture topics.E-mail: gary@winningcureseverything.com Twitter: @GaryWCE
