Vid of Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon punching woman is awful

Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon was “suspended” last year due to a domestic violence charge from 2014.  Mixon punched an Oklahoma female student inside a bar / restaurant and broke her jaw, which had to be wired shut for some time.

Just reading that should be enough to piss you off.

But wait until you actually see it.  Because we all know the visual means more than just words.

But let’s look at the fact that Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops, Athletic Director Joe Castiglione and OU President David Boren had seen this video, “suspended” him for a year (OU fans call it a redshirt) and allowed Mixon to remain on their football team.

In the year he was suspended, they still kept him on scholarship.

This video here.

Is this real life?  How is this kid on a football team?

Bob Stoops, Joe Castiglione and David Boren should be fired for allowing this to represent their University.  Period.

Their “punishment” was still awarding this kid a scholarship and allowing him to attend the university while he could not play football.  He didn’t even lose a year of eligibility.  He lost nothing.

For more details, this comes from CollegeFootballTalk.com’s story:

Mixon was suspended from the football team for a full season after enrolling as a freshman in 2014, and was charged with a misdemeanor as a result of the incident. He was put on probation for a year as a result of a plea deal and sentenced to 100 hours of community service and counseling as well.

The woman who Mixon hit, Amelia Molitor, is suing the tailback in Oklahoma City federal court and suffered from broken bones in her face as a result of the punch. The video was seen by school officials and local media members some time ago but the city of Norman was taken to court to get it publicly released, which eventually happened on Friday.

Mixon has released several statements over the year about the case and is slated to speak to the media ahead of the Sooners’ Sugar Bowl matchup with Auburn. The running back is eligible to declare early for the 2017 NFL Draft, meaning the game could be his final one in college.

There’s no way this kid should be playing in this bowl game… and there’s no way he’s going to be drafted in the NFL after seeing this video.  We all remember the Ray Rice video.

Back to the point – Bob Stoops and David Boren should be ashamed of themselves, and may have cost themselves their jobs.
