What The Hell Was That?! Wednesday #4

– Chris Giannini

I started writing “what the hell was that Wednesday” because I enjoy looking back on the week of football and questioning everything that I thought was so insanely stupid.

With that thought I want to begin with Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  Brian Kelly’s team has had a miserable start to the season losing their last home game to DUKE???  How the hell to do you lose to Duke?  Duke lost the previous week to Northwestern!  And if losing isn’t bad enough Kelly did himself no favors by taking ZERO responsibility for the teams poor play and blaming other players and coaches.  I’ve never understood how a head coach could blame so many other people when he is the one who hired and recruited those people.  I think the way Kelly has acted in taking his lumps is despicable and will cost him his job soon.
Oregon?  What the hell happened to the Oregon I loved?  The Oregon I know and loved would never allow a team like Colorado to come into their stadium and beat them.  I don’t know what is going on there but I can’t believe it will continue much longer without a major change coming down.

My Arizona Cardinals, what are you doing?  Bruce Arians, how is this happening?  You have been one of the best coaches in the NFL ever since you got a chance to be a head coach in the league.  How does a great football man go into a game with Buffalo and get completely out coached by Rex Ryan?  Rex Ryan of all people??? The Cardinals aren’t playing inspired football at all.  They look like they aren’t interested in being in the games and are just getting embarrassed this season.  You were my pick to make it to the Super Bowl!  I trusted you with my pick and my $$$.  Get it together and right the ship Bruce.  You are way better than that.

Cincinnati Bengals:  you should be a much better team than you’ve shown so far this season. You just let some kid named Trevor Siemian come into your house and beat you like a drum.  I know they have a good defense and if you loose that game close and low scoring I get it.  But you gave up 27 points and 4 TDs to a guy from Northwestern!  I have no idea what is going on with this Bengals team.

And finally I feel like I need to question myself.  I don’t know what the hell is going on this season.  Every team I think is good seems to just not be good; they are terrible!  And the teams I thought would be awful are GREAT!  I’ve been watching football for a long time and really enjoy it.  I can’t pick games, I can’t judge teams, I don’t know what the hell is going on.  All I know is I’ll need a 3rd job if I can’t turn the betting around.  Have no fear; I’ll get it rolling!

Until next week, keep your head on a swivel and out of your ass!

Gary began his first website in 1998 as a sophomore in high school, writing reviews of cds and live shows in the Memphis area. He became editor of his college newspaper, then moved towards a career in music. He started the infamous MemphisTider.com blog during the 2006 football season, and was lucky enough to get into blogging just before the coaching search that landed Nick Saban at Alabama. The month and a half long coaching search netted his site, which was known for tracking airplanes, over 1 million hits in less than 90 days. The website introduced Gary to tons of new friends, including Nico and Todd, who had just started the site RollBamaRoll.com.After diving into more than just Alabama news, Gary started up his first installment of WinningCuresEverything.com in 2012. After keeping the site quiet for a while, it was started back up in April 2016. Gary then joined forces with high school friend Chris Giannini and began a podcast during the 2016 football season that runs at least 2 times a week, focusing on college football, NFL football, and sports wagering, and diving into other sports and pop-culture topics.E-mail: gary@winningcureseverything.com Twitter: @GaryWCE
